Education
I am a university instructor at a university in Wisconsin. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle School Education, a Master's degree in Professional Development with an emphasis in Reading, and am a PhD candidate for a degree in Language and Literacy.
Experience
I have been a university instructor for 4 1/2 years. I have tutored some of my own students outside of class for each of those years. I also have tutored students online, especially in editing their papers. I want to be a tutor because I thoroughly the one on one I get with students because it really helps individualize instruction so that student can excel in their problem area. As a university instructor, I have taught the following college level courses: Academic Survival/Study Skills, College Literacy, Written Communications, all three sections of the PPST (Praxis Core Tests for Preservice Teachers), and the Verbal and Quantitative portions of the GRE. Because of this and my degrees, I can teach a wide range of students. I have created a blog (www.academicsurvivalskills.com) that is geared towards helping college students succeed. I feel that the main class I teach (Academic Survival/Study Skills) should be taught worldwide; my students should not be the only ones with access to these very important tips and tools to succeed. This is the reason I created my blog. I have excellent writing skills and have a unique, fun, humorous approach to teaching.
